except that that’s not how it works
racism is discrimination or unfair treatment of any kind based on race
black people can be racist
middle eastern/Asian people can be racist
Hispanic people can be racist
other minority groups can be racist
RACISM IS NOT JUST ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE AND AGAINST BLACK PEOPLE. *ALL* RACES FEEL THE EFFECTS OF RACISM AND CAN BE RACIST THEMSELVES. IF YOU ARE UNKIND TO SOMEOME BASED SOLELY OR PARTIALLY ON THEIR RACE, ***YOU ARE RACIST.*** racism is about your skin color, but your skin color doesn’t give you a free pass to be racist.
I understand where you’re coming from but I think you might be a little confused. Racism and discrimination are two different terms. White people can be discriminated against, like every race. But what this woman is saying is that black people literally cannot be racist because we have not created a system to disadvantage races other than our own, and we literally can’t do that because that has already been done. To us.
Racism is about putting yourself on top of other races by developing a system that makes living a life anywhere near as good as yours difficult for anyone who’s race makes your feel uncomfortable .
Also, this post was tagged “dear White People” because that is literally the title of the movie. So, before you get all huffy and puffy about people "Shutting the fuck up unless they know what the fuck they’re talking about" I would say talk your own advice and do the same damn thing.
characters that go from villain to awkward friend are so important
